An Act increasing grants and scholarships for public higher education students.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 16 of Chapter 15A of the General Laws is hereby amended in the second paragraph by striking the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following new sentence:-
The amount of awards to qualified students shall be determined by using an indexing system which shall be included in the guidelines established by the council to govern this program; provided, however, that in no case shall the total amount of awards to students attending independent colleges, universities, schools of nursing or any other programs in non-public institutions of higher education exceed in any year the total amount of awards to students attending public higher education institutions in the commonwealth.
