An Act relative to district councilors elected at the 2011 election in the town of Amesbury.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of the second sentence of section 3-1(b) of the charter of the Town of Amesbury, or any other general or special law, charter provision or ordinance to the contrary, a district councilor elected at the November 8, 2011 town election who is removed from the district from which the councilor was elected solely as a result of the division of precincts required by chapter 54 of the General Laws shall serve for the term beginning January 4, 2011, subject to all other provisions of said charter.
SECTION 2. If this act is not in effect on or before December 31, 2011 all acts taken in reliance thereon and with respect thereto shall be ratified, validated and confirmed as if this act had been in place prior thereto.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
