In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act designating that portion of Route 9 from the city of Northampton to the city of Pittsfield as the marine corps league highway.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Whereas, Chapter 498 of The Massachusetts Acts of 1960 designates a portion of state highway route 9 as The United States Marine Corps League Highway;

Whereas, There has never been nor does there presently exist an organization of this name;

Whereas, The United States Congress in 1937 incorporated the Marine Corps League;

Whereas, The members of the Marine Corps League deserve proper recognition with the official name of their body corporate;

Therefore, be it enacted that Chapter 498 of the acts of 1960, are hereby repealed.

Be it further enacted that the portion of state highway route 9 from the city of Northampton to the city of Pittsfield shall be known and designated as the Marine Corps League Highway, and suitable markers bearing such designation shall be erected and maintained thereon by the Marine Corps League, Westfield River Valley Detachment 141.
