An Act Providing Certain Accidental Disability Retirement Benefits for the Widow of a Former Police Officer of the City of Boston..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, and in order to promote the public good, there shall be paid an accidental death benefit from the State-Boston retirement board to Maureen Shaw, the widow of Kenneth James Shaw, a former police officer of the city of Boston who contracted Hepatitis C in the official performance of his duties.
SECTION 2.Such an accidental death benefit allowance shall consist of a yearly amount of pension equal to seventy-two percent of the annual rate of regular compensation of said Kenneth James Shaw for the twelve-month period for which he last received compensation from the police department of said city. Any annual cost-of-living increases, as determined by the general court, shall before payments are made, be approved by the State-Boston retirement board.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
