An Act relative to specially qualified voters.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  The definition of “specially qualified voter” in section 1 of chapter 50 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 127 to 132, inclusive, clauses (i), (ii) and (iii) and inserting in place thereof the following clauses:-

(i)  absent from the city or town of residence and in the active service of the armed forces or in the merchant marine of the United States, or a spouse or dependent of such person; or

(ii) confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by reason of a felony conviction.
