SECTION 1. Section 2-8 of the charter of the town of Abington, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the second, third and fourth sentences and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Notice of an annual or special town meeting shall be provided in the manner prescribed by the General Laws and town by-laws.
SECTION 2. Section 3-8 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the third sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The board of library trustees shall have all of the powers and duties which are given to library trustees under chapter 78 of the General Laws and any other relevant provision of the constitution and laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and shall have such additional powers and duties as may be authorized by the charter, by by-law or by other vote of the town meeting.
SECTION 3. The third sentence of section 6-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “fourteen” and inserting in place thereof the following:- ten (10).
SECTION 4. Said section 6-5 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Said report shall also be made available to voters of the town forthwith after the filing with the Town Clerk, in the manner provided in the town by-laws, and at town meeting.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
