An Act relative to the finance committee of the town of Provincetown.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the charter of the town of Provincetown, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out section 7-1 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 7-1. There shall be a finance committee as provided by G.L. c. 39 s. 16, consisting of seven regular members and two alternate members appointed by the moderator for three year overlapping terms so arranged that the terms of at least three members shall expire each year, provided that no more than one alternate member’s term expires in any given year.

SECTION 2.  As the terms of finance committee members expire over the next three years following the effective date of this act, the moderator shall adjust the terms so that the terms of three members, including the alternate members, shall expire each year with no more than one alternate member’s term expiring in any given year.

SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect on April 30, 2013.
