An Act relative to sex selection in pregnancy.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.

Section 12L of Chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition of the General Laws of Massachusetts, is hereby amended by striking the period at the end thereof and adding the following:─ “provided, however, no physician shall intentionally perform such an abortion with the knowledge that the mother is seeking the abortion solely on account of the sex of the unborn child.”

SECTION 2.

Section 12M of Chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition of the General Laws of Massachusetts, is hereby amended by striking the period at the end thereof and adding the following:─ “provided, however, no physician shall intentionally perform such an abortion with the knowledge that the mother is seeking the abortion solely on account of the sex of the unborn child.”
