AN ACT RELATIVE TO LIBRARY FUNDING FOR THE CENTERVILLE-OSTERVILLE-MARTSONS MILLS FIRE DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 18 of Chapter 259 of the Acts of 1993 is hereby amended by adding after Section 18 (B) 4 the following:
SECTION (C) Library Financial Assistance:
(i) The Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire District, in addition to the powers now invested in it by law and authorized under the authority of Chapter 259 of the Acts of 1993 and all other authority pertinent thereto, is hereby authorized to raise and appropriate and expend monies within the funding level described herein for the Centerville Public Library, the Osterville Village Library, and the Marstons Mills Public Library located in the Town of Barnstable and within the territory comprising said District.
(ii) The Centerville –Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire District may annually appropriate at the Annual District Meeting of such District a sum of money not to exceed five thousand dollars in the aggregate to be expended under the direction of the Prudential Committee for the community educational, recreational expenses such as books, newspapers, computers, computer tech support and other special library programming for the Centerville Public Library, the Osterville Village Library, and the Marstons Mills public library, provided that all inhabitants of said District shall have free use of all such libraries.
(iii) This Act shall be entered as a binding question included upon the ballot for the 2013 Annual District Meeting elections of Officers; and shall take effect upon the adoption thereof by a majority of the District voters casting paper ballots at such election.
