An Act relative to an increase of fines and penalties for violations of laws relating to fire, explosions and fire prevention.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

                 SECTION 1.   Section 5 of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as so appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby further amended by striking out, in line 36, the word “fifty" and inserting in place thereof the following words: - two-hundred.

                 SECTION 2.  Section 10B of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in lines 3 and 4, the words "one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars" and inserting in place thereof the following words:-three hundred dollars nor more than two thousand dollars.

                 SECTION 3.  Section 27B of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1998 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 8, the word "one" and inserting in place thereof the following word:- three.

                 SECTION 4.  Section 54 of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 7 and 8, the words "one hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than thirty days” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than sixty days.

                 SECTION 5.  Section 39 of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 17 and 18, the words "one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars" and inserting in place thereof the following words:-five hundred dollars nor more than five thousand dollars.

                 SECTION 6. Section 39 of chapter 148 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in lines 26 and 27, the words "ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars" and inserting in place thereof the following words:- one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars.
