An Act relative to property tax rebates for senior citizens.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 59 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 59A, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, the following section:- Section 59B. In a city or town which accepts the provisions of this section, the city or town may appropriate funds for and grant property tax rebates in an amount not to exceed $750 annually to persons who qualify for a credit on their Massachusetts income tax under subsection (K) of section 6 of chapter 62 of the General Laws or persons 65 years of age or older who are not required to file Massachusetts state income taxes.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
