An Act relative to the Inspector General Council.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

                SECTION 1. Section 3 of chapter 12A of the general laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended in line 3, by inserting after the words “state comptroller” the following:-

“the chair of the senate committee on post audit and oversight, the chair of the house committee on post audit and oversight,”

                SECTION 2.  Chapter 12A of the general laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after section 3, the following new section:-

                Section 3A.  Advisory Councils

The Senate Committee on Post Audit and Oversight and the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight shall serve as advisory councils to the Inspector General, acting either independently or in concurrence with, and may recommend agencies or programs for audit or investigation by the Inspector General.  Either of said committees, or both committees acting in concurrence, may request the assistance of the Inspector General in carrying out any legislative audit or investigation approved by the respective committees.
