An Act authorizing an early retirement incentive program in the City of Taunton.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding subsection (g) of section 66 of chapter 188 of the acts of 2010 to the contrary, the mayor of the city of Taunton may establish and implement an early retirement incentive program for city employees as otherwise provided in said section 66 of said chapter 188 and subject to the following provisions:
(i) the mayor shall submit a plan to the public employee retirement administration commission for approval within 2 months after the effective date of this act;
(ii) once the plan has been approved, the mayor shall submit the plan to the city council for acceptance not later than the next meeting of the city council at which the plan can practicably be submitted;
(iii) within 1 month after the plan has been accepted by the city council, the mayor shall publish and make the approved plan available to employees;
(iv) the mayor shall require employees to participate within 2 months of the plan’s publication;
(v) the mayor shall determine which applicants shall be allowed to participate in the program and shall notify those employees within 1 month of the application deadline; and
(vi) the mayor shall require that participating employees shall retire within 2 months of notification of acceptance.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
