An Act requiring instruction on the Ukrainian genocide in the public schools of the Commonwealth..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. The board of education shall formulate recommendations on the instruction on the Ukrainian genocide Holodomor within its curricular material on genocide and human rights issues, and guidelines for teaching of such material.  In formulating these recommendations, the board shall consult with practicing teachers, principals, superintendents, and curricular coordinators in the commonwealth, as well as experts knowledgeable on the subject of the Ukrainian genocide.  Said recommendations shall be available to all school districts in the commonwealth on an advisory basis, and shall be filed with the clerk of the house of representatives, the clerk of the senate, and the senate chairmen of the joint committee on education, arts, and humanities not later than September 1, 2013.
