In the Year Two Thousand Twelve

An Act exempting the position of police chief in the city of Malden from the civil service law.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the position of police chief in the city of Malden shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws.
SECTION 2. Section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of the person holding the position of police chief in the city of Malden on the effective date of this act.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
