An Act relative to voter registration..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1: Chapter 51 of the General Law, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 36 the following new section:-
Section 36A: (1) Each public high school may designate a location where students may receive voter registration forms. A public high school offering voter registration services may inform students of the right to complete a voter registration form, inform students that the decision to register to vote shall have no bearing on high school records and shall not inquire or keep records pertaining to any students eligibility to vote. Whenever possible, public high schools shall place a link on their internet webpage to the Secretary of State Elections Division Office for individuals to learn about the qualifications to vote, and to download a voter registration form.
(2) This act shall take effect on July 1, 2011; provided however, that the provisions of this act shall only apply to school districts on and after July 1, 2011.
