An Act relative to campaign finance during special elections.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 55, as appearing in the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting the following new definition after the first definition:- “Calendar Year”, a calendar year shall mean any year beginning on January 1st and ending December 31st. There shall be a special election exemption for campaign contributions if a special election and a general election occur within the same calendar year.  Contributions may not exceed the defined limits set forth in this chapter, for each election cycle during said calendar year.
