Resolve establishing a special joint legislative commission relative to the law and regulations of the Massachusetts auto insurance, licenses auto damage appraisers, and auto body repair industry..
Resolved, Resolved, That a joint legislative commission is hereby established to investigate and study the laws and the regulations by which the Massachusetts auto insurance industry is regulated and the hearing of complaints of citizens heard. The commission members shall be appointed jointly by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, and shall consist of 10 members as follows, the Senate President shall appoint a Senate chairman and a second Senator, and the House Speaker shall appoint a House chairman and a second House member, the two chairman shall act as co-chairman; a designee of the Commissioner of Insurance; a designee representing an auto insurance company; and four private citizens.
The commission shall report to the general court the results of its study, together with drafts of legislation it may deem necessary to carry out such recommendations into effect, by filing same with the clerk of the Senate and of the House of Representatives on or before December 31, 2011.
