An Act increasing penalties for hit-and-run motor vehicle accidents.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Subparagraph (1) of paragraph (a ½) of subdivision (2) of section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the words “not less than six months nor more than two years and by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars” and inserting in place thereof the following words:
not less than 6 months nor more than 2 and one half years in a house of correction or for not less than 2 and one half years nor more than 10 years in a state prison, and by a fine of not less than $2,500 nor more than $10,000.
