In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act relative to those who aid in the commission of a crime against a child.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1.   Section 13B of chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended as follows:

By deleting lines 1-4 of section 13B as so appearing up to the period in line 4 and inserting in its place the following:-

“Whoever commits an indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, or whoever aids in the commission of such a crime, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 12 years, or by imprisonment in the house of correction for not more than 5 years“

Section 2.  Section 13H of chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended as follows:

By amending line 2 of section 13H as so appearing by inserting after the word “fourteen” the following:-

“,or whoever aids in the commission of such a crime,”;

And, by further deleting in line 3 the word “five” and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“7”

And, by deleting in line 4 the words "two and one-half“and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“5”

Section 3.  Section 13J of chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended as follows:

By amending lines 17, 21, 28 and 33 of section 13J as so appearing by inserting after the word “injury” in each instance, the following:-

“, or whoever aids in the commission of such a crime,”;

And further, by deleting in lines 19, 23, 29 and 35 to 36 the words “two and one-half ” in each instance and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following:-

“5 ”;

And further, by deleting in lines 18 and 34 the word ”five” in each instance and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following:-

“7”;

And further, by deleting in line 22 the word “fifteen” and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“17”

Section 4.    Section 13L of chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended as follows:

By amending line 24 as so appearing by inserting after the word “act”, the following:-

“or whoever aids in the commission of such a risk or crime”

And, by further amending line 25 of said section as so appearing by deleting the number “2 1/2” and inserting in place thereof the following number:-

“5”.
