Moore (by vote of the town) for legislation to combine the offices of town treasurer and town collector in the town of Dudley.  Municipalities and Regional Government.  [Local Approval Received.]

An Act relative to combining the offices of town treasurer and town collector in the town of Dudley.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1 – The office of Treasurer-Collector of the Town of Dudley is hereby established.  The Town Treasurer-Collector shall have all the powers, perform the duties and be subject to the liabilities and penalties, now or hereafter conferred or imposed by law on the Town Treasurer and the Tax Collector.

Section 2 – The incumbents in the elected offices of Town Treasurer and Tax Collector on the effective date of this act shall continue to hold said offices and perform the duties thereof until the expiration of their terms.  The first Town Treasurer-Collector shall be elected at the first town election following the effective date of this act and the expiration of said terms.  However, if the same person holds both offices on the effective date of this act, then the position of Town Treasurer-Collector may take effect immediately with the approval of the Board of Selectmen.

Section 3 – This act shall take effect upon its passage.
