An Act to ensure adequate care of animals in cities and towns.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 151 of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding in line 22 after the word town, the following sentence:

In addition to any assistance the dog officer provides, the dog officer shall maintain a list of additional resources available to residents who are unable to care for an animal.

SECTION 2. Section 77 of chapter 272 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding, after the word "kind," in line 18, the following words:- or fails to provide the animal with veterinary care that results in unnecessary suffering,
