Resolved, That a special commission is hereby established for the purposes of making an investigation and study relative to food allergens in restaurants. The commission shall determine whether it is feasible to require restaurants to use different utensils, working stations and storage for foods that contain peanut oils or any other allergens that affect individuals who are allergic to peanuts. The commission shall consist of the Chairs of the Joint Committee on Public Health, or his designee; 1 member to be appointed by the Senate President; 1 member to be appointed by the speaker of the house of Representatives; 1 member to be appointed by the senate minority leader; 1 member to be appointed by the house minority leader; the commissioner of public health or his designee, and a representative from the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.
The commission shall report to the General Court the results of the investigation and study by filing the same with the clerk of the Senate and House of Representatives on or before December 31, 2014.
