SECTION 1. Chapter 143 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 edition, is hereby amended after section 72 by inserting the following new section:-
Section 72A. Any operator of cinematograph, similar apparatus, thirty-five millimeter or larger, or any type of projector that uses a digital or similar media, including polarized devices to project there dimensional images, shall be required to post in a conspicuous location, provide a telephone recording annoucing show times and provide on its website or similar internet devices or software a notice to inform customers prior to ticket purchase the following message about the film shown using a polarized device in the projector used to show three dimensional images but is used for showing two dimensional instead:- “This film is shown using a polarization device that results in a darker image projected and may result in the film not being viewed in a manner as originally intended.”
The commission of public safety shall set a fine of not less than $500 per instance of violation and shall establish a method for customers to report a violation.
