An Act to update the law regarding do not resuscitate orders.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 111C of the General Laws shall be amended by adding the following section:
SECTION 13A-
(1) The EMS Advisory Board shall be directed to undertake a study and prepare a report discussing the feasibility of updating the laws relating to “Do Not Resuscitate” orders in the Commonwealth. The Board shall consider the feasibility of creating a uniform method for identifying a person who has signed a “Do Not Resuscitate” order. The Board shall consider the feasibility of developing new guidelines to be followed by first responders when a “Do Not Resuscitate” is in effect. Nothing in the section shall limit the ability of the Board to include other recommendations in their report.
(2) The EMS Advisory Board shall be directed to undertake this study not more than one year after passage of this ACT.
(3) The EMS Advisory Board shall have one year from the commencement of the study to issue a final report.
