An Act relative to elevator inspection fines.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 65 of chapter 143, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the second paragraph the following:-
The department shall provide notice of expiration of inspection certificate to the owner or operator at least 90 days prior to expiration. The notice shall include, but not be limited to, explanation of fines imposed by this section. An owner or operator of an elevator shall not be issued fines as prescribed by this section unless seasonable notification of expiration was issued by the department.
