An act regarding smoke detectors in condominiums.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1.  Section 26c Chapter 148 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following word after "hotels,":-

condominiums,

Section 2.  Section 26c Chapter 148 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 26c1/2.  Inspection of Condominium Units  

Condominiums units, as defined in Chapter 183a, Section 1 and equipped with automatic smoke or heat detectors, shall be annually inspected for working condition by the head of the city and town fire department for compliance with the requirements of this section.
