In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act relative to eligibility for state group health insurance.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. A special commission is hereby established to make an investigation and study relative to the eligibility of part-time and adjunct Massachusetts public higher education faculty for contributory group insurance. The special commission shall consist of 2 members of the 3 senate, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; 2 members of the house of representatives, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; the secretary of administration and finance or his designee; the secretary of education or his designee; the commissioner of higher education or his designee; the president of the University of Massachusetts or his designee; the executive director of the group insurance commission or his designee; the executive director of the center for health information and analysis or his designee; the chairman of the State Colleges of Massachusetts Council of presidents or his designee; the president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association or his designee; the president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Federation of Teachers or his designee; a member of the board of trustees at the University of Massachusetts who shall be appointed by the chair of the board, and a member of a board of trustees of a state college, selected by the chairs of such boards of trustees acting jointly.
