An Act relative to veterans in the civil service.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1: Section 26 of Chapter 31 of the General laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition is hereby amended by striking out the first paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
The names of persons who pass examinations for original appointment to any position in the official service shall be placed on eligible lists in the following order: (1) disabled veterans, in the order of their respective standings; (2) veterans, in the order of their respective standings; (3) brothers, sisters, widows or widowed mothers of veterans who were killed in action or died from a service connected disability incurred in wartime service, in the order of their respective standings; (4) all others, in the order of their respective standings. Upon receipt of a requisition, names shall be certified from such lists according to the method of certification prescribed by the rules. Veteran’s preference is absolute. All eligible lists of disabled veterans, veterans, brothers, sisters, widows or widowed mothers of veterans who were killed in action or died from a service connected disability incurred in wartime service must be exhausted on a certified list before another special selective certification can be established.
SECTION 2: Section 26 of Chapter 31 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition is hereby amended in the second paragraph by inserting after the word "veteran” the following words:- or a brother and sister of a veteran
SECTION 3: Section 26 of Chapter 31 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition is hereby amending inserting after the word “records” in paragraph 3 the following:- Official Military Personnel File (OMPF)
