An Act increasing the experience and background necessary to operate low pressure processed steam boilers.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 46 of  chapter 146 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the first paragraph the following paragraph:-

Notwithstanding the provisions of the first paragraph, a facility with a low pressure processed steam boiler, with a pressure carried below 15 pounds to the square inch, involved in the process, production and manufacturing of a product, commodity or chemical, shall be operated and maintained by a duly licensed first class fireman or the holder of a special license under section 49. 

SECTION 2. Section 49 of said chapter 146, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting in the second paragraph, after the first sentence, the following sentence:- The department shall further promulgate rules and regulations to establish the standards for the licensure and professional and ethical conduct of engineers and firemen in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, including the maintenance and operation of boilers and grounds for the suspension or revocation of such licenses.
