An Act relative to speed limits in historic districts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 1 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “Heavy duty platform trailer”, the following new definition:-

“Historic district”, a group of buildings, properties or sites of land that have been designated historically or architecturally significant by the local city or town.

SECTION 2.  Section 17 of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 13, the words “or (4)” and inserting in place thereof the following:-

“(4) inside a designated historic district at a rate of speed exceeding the rate established by the local municipality, or (5)”.

SECTION 3, This act shall take effect upon its passage.
