An Act to authorize transportation revenues to be collected in high occupancy vehicle lanes from single passenger vehicles.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 19A of Chapter 6A of the General Laws as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition is hereby amended by adding the following:-
The secretary of transportation is directed to take whatever action is necessary, including but not limited to filing whatever application to the federal government may be required, to implement a program whereby vehicles that do not meet the occupancy criteria of high occupancy vehicle lanes may access said lanes on interstate highway route 93 for a fee. Any revenue collected from these fees shall be used to offset the debt of the metropolitan highway system attributable to the central artery project and the third harbor tunnel project.
