Winslow and others for legislation to increase the speed limit to seventy miles per hour on the Massachusetts Turnpike and on certain roadways with a posted limit of sixty-five miles per hour.  Transportation.

An Act increasing the speed limit on the Massachusetts Turnpike and on roadways with a posted limit of sixty-five miles per hour.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 17A of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 7, the word “sixty-five” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- “seventy”.

SECTION 2. Section 18 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 17, after the word “control.” the following words:-

Unless otherwise prohibited by federal law, the maximum speed for motor vehicles traveling on roadways with posted speed limits of sixty-five miles per hour shall be increased to seventy miles per hour.
