An Act relative to housing in Massachusetts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 121B of the General laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 41A, the following section:-

Section 41B. A commission shall be established to study and make recommendations to the local or regional housing authorities regarding the housing issues at developments for residents of the Commonwealth who are 55 years of age and older. The commission shall specifically address the structural design deficiencies that may economically affect older residents in the Commonwealth. The commission shall include, at a minimum, the following members, the secretary of elder affairs or his designee, the secretary of housing and economic development or his designee, the director of the division of professional licensure or his designee, and representatives from municipalities and developers of the units for residents over the age of 55.

The commission shall submit its finding and recommendations for housing developments for those 55 years of age and older, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry those recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerks of the house of representatives and senate, the house and senate committees on ways and means and local or regional housing authorities not later than the May 1, 2014.
