An Act authorizing the City of Pittsfield to prohibit heavy commercial vehicles from travelling from the Lanesborough town line unto Highland Avenue and/or Pecks Road to point where the streets intersect with Valentine Road.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any provisions of General Law Chapter 85, Section 2, or any other general or special law to the contrary, the Pittsfield City Council is hereby authorized to prohibit heavy commercial vehicles from entering upon or onto Highland Avenue and/or Pecks Road from the Lanesborough town line to where Highland Avenue and Pecks Road intersect with Valentine Road. Said prohibition shall not apply to the following:

(1) Commercial vehicles belonging to the City of Pittsfield or operated by or in connection with City departments; or such vehicles belonging to or operated by public service corporations, public utility corporations, or private corporations in performance of contractual service to the City or in connection with work required to be done on Pecks Road and/or Highland Avenue; and

(2) Police or fire department vehicles, ambulances, or other emergency vehicles; and

(3) Vehicles engaged in collecting or distributing United States mail.

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon passage.
