An Act amending the charter of the town of Abington.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 5 and 14 of Chapter 45 of the General Laws, or of any other general law or special law to the contrary, the Charter of the Town of Abington is hereby amended by deleting the third sentence of section 3-12 and inserting in place thereof the following:-  The Highway Department shall have general management of the town playing fields, parks, public lawns and landscaping areas, the the town pool and all property of the town relating thereto, in coordination with the Town Manager.

Section 2. As of the effective date of this act, all property held in the care, custody, management and control of the board of park and recreation commissioners for town playing fields, parks, public lawns and landscaped areas and the town pool shall hereby be transferred to the care, custody and control of the board of selectmen for such purposes.

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
