In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act exempting the positions of police chief and fire chief in the city of Peabody from the civil service law.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the position of police chief and the position of fire chief in the city of Peabody shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. Section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of the person holding the position of police chief or the position of fire chief in the city of Peabody on the effective date of this act.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
