In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act increasing the membership of the board of selectmen in the town of Southborough.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the number of members of the board of selectmen of the town of Southborough shall be increased to 5 members. Each member shall be elected to a 3- year term, so arranged that the term of office of as nearly an equal number of members as is possible shall expire each year. Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, at the next annual town election following at least 65 days after the effective date of this act, 1 additional member shall be elected to an initial 2- year term and 1 additional member shall be elected to a 3- year term. Both offices shall be listed separately on the ballot. Nothing in this act shall affect the terms of those members serving as selectmen on the effective date of this act.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
