An Act requesting display of voter written identification to collect empirical data.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 76 of chapter 54 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following paragraph:-
The election officer shall ask each individual for a government issued written identification. Failure to display such identification shall not bar an individual from receiving a ballot. Following the closing of the polls, the election officer shall compile all data in regards to individuals unable to display such identification and file a report with the secretary of the commonwealth.
