An Act to decrease the Veterans’ Plate fee.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 2 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 390, the words “, upon application,” and inserting in place thereof the words:- “without charge”

Section 2 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in line 397 to 399, the words “There shall be an annual $20 fee for such “VETERAN” plates in addition to the established registration fee for private passenger vehicles and motorcycles.” and inserting in place thereof the words:- “The surviving spouse of a deceased veteran may elect to retain such distinctive registration plates or emblem for personal use upon payment of the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles or motorcycles and an additional annual twenty dollar fee until such time as such spouse remarries or fails to renew or cancels such registration.”
