By Mr. Turner of Dennis, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4409) of Cleon H. Turner, Randy Hunt and Brian R. Mannal (by vote of the town) that the town of Barnstable be authorized to borrow funds for the purpose of repairing and maintaining certain private roads in said town.  Municipalities and Regional Government.  [Local Approval Received.]

An Act relative to private roads in the town of Barnstable.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 174 of the acts of 1994 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Barnstable is hereby authorized to borrow from time to time as authorized by a two-thirds vote of the town council such sums as may be necessary for the purpose of repairing and improving private ways within the town; provided, however, that the outstanding indebtedness pursuant to this act shall not exceed $15,000,000 at the close of any fiscal year.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
