An Act relative to charter school boards.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1- Section 89 of Chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding to the end of subsection (u) thereof the following paragraph:

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the appointing official of a member of the board of trustees of a commonwealth charter school shall be deemed to be the commissioner; provided, that such appointment has received the approval of school committees from each municipality from which said charter school draws its students.

Section 2- This act shall only apply to the appointment of members of a commonwealth charter school board of trustees after the date upon which this act becomes effective.
