An Act relative to clarity in census disclosure.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1: Section 4 of chapter 51 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition is hereby amended by striking subsection c. 

SECTION 2: Said section 4 is further amended by inserting the following subsection:-

“(f) The communication described in this section shall not include any reference to an individual’s right to vote or to political party registration or to the Commonwealth’s Voter Registration Information System (VRIS).  The communication shall notify residents that the information, excluding Veterans status, shall be part of the public record and that persons meeting conditions described in subsections d and e of this section can remove their information from that record, and shall provide the contact information to do so.”
