An Act relative to reimbursement for municipalities for costs incurred in conducting special elections.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 147 of chapter 54 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new sentence:  Provided, however, that notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, cities and towns shall be reimbursed for their costs conducting special elections, called to fill vacancies in offices under this chapter, after certification of said cost by the state auditor.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon passage
