An Act to add a compulsory death benefit to automobile liability insurance.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 62. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, in addition to the automobile liability insurance coverage that is compulsory by law, additional coverage of not less than $100,000 shall be available to the estate of any person killed by the negligence of the operator of a motor vehicle regardless of the relationship of the deceased to the owner or driver of the automobile.  Said coverage would be made available to any estate, which at the time of death of the decedent, was survived by a minor child, a spouse, or dependant parents.
