To reduce overcroding in schools, public school districts to pay a portion of the tuition at a private school provided the student meet the admissions requirements of the private school and was accepted for enrollment. The amount the school district would pay would be the lesser of the following 3 criteria: (1) An assessment of financial need by a private needs assessment firm; (2) One half of the tuition of the private school; (3) One third of the average cost per student in the student’s public school district.
