Amendment #58 to H.3514

An Act to protect persons from excessive fees for guardians ad litem

Mr. Winslow of Norfolk move that the bill be amended by inserting at the end thereof the following sections:-



“SECTION XX. Section 56A of Chapter 215 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting in line 12, after the word “treasurer” the following:-



'; provided, however, that no person shall be responsible for paying any guardian ad litem or reimbursing the Commonwealth for such compensation at an hourly rate in excess of the hourly rate paid to counsel for non-homicide children and family law cases pursuant to section 11 of chapter 211D of the General Laws'



SECTION XX. Section 16 of Chapter 208 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting in line 9, after the word “treasurer” the following:-



'; provided, however, that no person shall be responsible for paying any guardian ad litem or reimbursing the Commonwealth for such compensation at an hourly rate in excess of the hourly rate paid to counsel for non-homicide children and family law cases pursuant to section 11 of chapter 211D of the General Laws' ”
