SECTION 1. Section 10 of chapter 13 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking the first paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
There shall be a board of registration in medicine, in this section and section eleven called the board, consisting of 9 persons appointed by the governor, who shall be residents of the commonwealth, five of whom shall be physicians registered under section 2 of chapter 112, or corresponding provisions of earlier laws, one of whom shall be a nurse practitioner licensed under section 80B of chapter 112, one of whom shall be a pharmacist licensed under section 24 of chapter 112, and two of whom shall be representatives of the public, subject to the provisions of section nine B. Each member of the board shall serve for a term of three years. In making appointments to the board, the governor shall consider a broad distribution of diverse perspectives.
