An Act relative to the board of registration in nursing.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 13 of chapter 13 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking subsection (a) in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the following new subsection:-

(a) There shall be a board of registration in nursing, hereinafter called the board, consisting of 11 members appointed by the governor, who shall be residents of the commonwealth.  Members shall represent a broad distribution of diverse perspectives.  The composition of the board shall be as follows: 7 registered nurses, provided that 2 of whom shall be advanced practice nurses registered pursuant to section 80B of chapter 112, and provided further that 2 of whom shall be graduates of accredited baccalaureate-degree programs; 2 of whom shall be licensed practical nurses; 1 of whom shall be a primary care physician licensed pursuant to chapter 112; 1 of whom shall be a pharmacist registered under section 24 of chapter 112; 1 of whom shall be a dean of a school of nursing; and 1 of whom shall be a consumer.

SECTION 2.  Section 13 of chapter 13 of the General Laws is hereby further amended by striking subsection (c) in its entirety.
