An Act relative to baseline concussion testing for student athletes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The first paragraph of subsection (a) of section 222 of chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- The department shall create, implement and maintain mandatory baseline concussion testing for all high school aged athletes enrolled in public school or any school, private or otherwise, that is subject to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association rules.
SECTION 2. Said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the word “The”, in line 25, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- In addition to the mandatory baseline concussion testing results, the.
SECTION 3. Said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “student”, in line 38, the following words:- has undergone follow-up concussion testing in addition to previous baseline testing and the student.
SECTION 4. The first paragraph of subsection (c) of said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline concussion testing administration.
SECTION 5. The second paragraph of said subsection (c) of said section 222 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Any of the previously mentioned professionals who submit clearance shall also be trained in baseline concussion testing administration.
